DECLARATION FOR INVALID ARMY PENSION
State of Michigan, County of Kalamazoo, ss:
On this 20th day of September, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy Six, personally appeared before me, _______________ Clerk of the Circuit Court within and for the County and State aforesaid, Marion Blodgett, aged 37 years, and a resident of the County of Kalamazoo in the State of Michigan who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Marion Blodgett who enlisted in the service of the United States at Kalamazoo, County of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan on the 8th day of August, 1862 as a private in Company C, commanded by Captain _______________ in the 2nd Regiment of Mich. Cav. in the War of 1861, and honorably discharged at Nashville, State of Tenn on the 26th day of Sept 1863. That while in the service aforesaid, and in the line of duty as a soldier at a place called ______________ in the State of Kentucky on the ___ day of January 1863 from exposure and hardships he contracted diaherea which became chronic, still continues and greatly incapasitates him from performance of manual labor. He asks a Pension.
Received hospital treatment, as follows: 1st Reimental Post Hospital No 2, Woodsonville, Ky; about six months. ______ Gen Hospt No 2 _________ Tenn; about ten days in July 1863. Thense Gen Hospt No 15, Nashville Tenn; about two months to discharge. Since leaving the service he resided mostly at Kalamazoo Co., Mich. His occupation has been farmer. When enrolled he was a farmer and for the purpose of prosecuting his claim he hereby appoints P.H. Fitzgerald, of Indianapolis, Indiana, his attorney in fact, with full power of substitution. CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY FOR DISCHARGE
Private Marion Blodgett of 2nd Lieut. Meartin L Squier's Company, "C" of the 2nd Michigan Cav. Regiment of United States vols, was enlisted by Lieut. Weeber of the same Regiment of Cavalry at Kalamazoo Michigan on the 8th day of August 1862, to serve three years; he was born in Pavillion in the State of Michigan is twenty-three years of age, five feet five inches high, fair complection, Blue eyes, brown hair, and by occuaption when enlisted a farmer. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty (60) days.

I CERTIFY, that I have carefully examined the said Marion Blodgett of 2nd Lieut. M. L. Squier's Company, and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of Dysentery resulting from chronic diarrhea. He has been sick for the last 13 months with chronic diarrhea. After 2 months treatment in this hospital there is no prospect of his being cured. His disability of anaemia _____ him for the Invalid Corps. His disease was contracted in the service.
