  John Scott, being duly sworn says:  That his address is Wakelee, Cass. County Michigan.  That he is a physician in regular standing and practicing as such in the County and State above mentioned.  That he well knows Charles N Nichols, a resident of Fife Lake, Traverse County, Mich. and has know him, said Nichols, for twenty years. Knowing him well previous to and at the time of his enlistment in the service of the United States in 1861, and can testify from a personal knowledge of the man that previous to and at the time of his, said Charles N Nichols, enlistment in 1861 he was a sound rugged young man entirely free from rheumatism, deafness or any lung disease, but was perfectly sound.  That he has no interest in this claim.

  John Scott being duly sworn says that his address is Marcellus, Cass County Michigan - That he is a physician in regular standing and practicing as such in the county and state above mentioned.  That he well knows Charles N. Nichols, a resident of Fyfe Lake, Grand Traverse County Mich.  That said Charles N Nichols applied to deponent for treatment for catarrh on or about October 5th 1864. and continued under deponents care for the same for about three years or until the latter part of the year 1867 - That the Catarrh was continuous during the time said Nichols was under deponents care, that deponent used the usual remedies for catarrh giving the patient every benefit of his professional skill, but the disease continued to exist and was continuous during the time that elapsed between Oct 5th 1864 and the latter part of the year 1867 - That he has no interest in this claim
