During the early 1920’s the James Nichols family lived just outside the Village of Vicksburg, Michigan.  James was employed as a farm hand at the Maple Lane Dairy Farm, which was owned by the farmer, Mr. Oswalt.  It was here, in a rented house on Mr. Oswalt’s farm that James and Lottie Nichols reared the youngest of their seven children.
