In the Matter of Susan Nichols, widow of Charles N. Nichols
On this 4th day of April, A.D. 1920, personally appeared before me a James H. Nichols, aged 32 years, a resident of Vicksburg in the county of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan whose Post Office address is Vicksburg, Michigan. And, is well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declare in relation to the aforesaid case as follows:
That he is the son of the soldier and claimant, Susan Nichols. That he lived in Nebraska in the year 1888, living with his parents. That on May 26, 1888 I was sent for a Doctor by the name of E. S. Smith. That he came to my parents' home the same evening. I went up to my room on the second floor to bed. When I awoke in the morning I went to my mother's (the claimants) room and there first I saw my sister Maggie. I lived with my parents continually until within the last three years and know that the said Maggie is the same child born as above stated.
