GENERAL AFFIDAVIT

Evidence supporting pension claim #758-649, April 11, 1902

Claimant: Susan Nichols, widow

Soldier: Charles Nichols, deceased

State of Nebraska, County of Hall, ss:

  On this 6th day of March, A.D. 1902, before me, H.E. Clifford, a Notary Public, in and for said County and State, personally appeared, Mary A. Pope, of the age of 34 years, a resident of Grand Island, Nebraska, who being duly sworn deposeth and seith as follows:

  That she is the daughter of Susan Nichols who is an applicant for pension as the widow of Charles N. Nichols, deceased, and is a sister of Maggie Nichols, minor child of said Charles N. Nichols, now deceased, and of said Susan Nichols:  Affiant further says that said Maggie Nichols was born on the 28th day of May 1888 in Shelton Township, near the village of Shelton, in Buffalo County, Nebraska.  Affiant says that she has personal knowledge of said birth because she was present when her said sister, Maggie Nichols was born.  Affiant further says that she has no interest in said claim for pension and is not interested in its prosecution.  And, further affiant saith not.

  Subscribed in my presence and sworn to before me this 5th day of March, 1902, and I further certify that said affidavit was read by said affiant and the contents fully known to her before she signed the same, that I am well acquainted with said affiant and that she is respectable and entitled to credit.  Witness my hand and official seal this 5th day of March, 1902.  I further certify that I have no interest in said claim nor in its prosecution.
